Gifted and Talented Education in Kindergarten through the 5th Grade
WELCOME TO THE ELEMENTARY G.A.T.E. PAGE.
This year a Send-Out Program will be provided to identified gifted students in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. Identified gifted students in lower grade levels will still receive other support and services from the G.A.T.E. program. Our Send-Out Program is an extensive, full day of learning and adventure in the GATE classroom. For students in K-5th grade, the GATE classroom is housed at Eastside Elementary, and students will need to arrive at Eastside Elementary, rather than their regular elementary school on the days they attend the Send-Out program; they will also be dismissed directly from the G.A.T.E. classroom at Eastside Elementary, rather than go back to their general education classroom. The Send-Out Program's weekly schedule is as follows:
Tuesday: GATE 5th Grade Send-Out Program (Red Group)
Wednesday: GATE 3rd and Sunset 4th Grade Send-Out Program (Blue Group)
Thursday: GATE Eastside and Livingston 4th Grade Send-Out Program (Green Group)
Friday: GATE 1st and 2nd Grade Send-Out Program (Yellow Group)
The Send-Out program will start each day at 8:10 a.m. The Send-Out program will end at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It will end at 1:35 p.m. on Fridays. Please make sure your student knows where they are going at the end of the school day, and how they are getting there to avoid any confusion. For lunch, students have the option of purchasing a hot lunch from Eastside Elementary's cafeteria using their usual school lunch account, or they may pack a lunch.
Kristian Olson will be serving as the G.A.T.E. teacher for kindergarten through the 5th grade, and Amy Fulton will be serving as the G.A.T.E. for students from the 6th grade all way through to 12th grade. Feel free to stop by their classrooms (at Eastside and the Middle School respectively), or shoot them an email (firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com). They're very friendly and here to help!
